Location: Western Cape

Age: 29

Bio: I am a medical doctor working in Cape Town. I am interested in topics pertaining to women and holistic health.

Causes and initiatives I support: I am interested in working with The Saartjie Baartman shelter for women and children The Haven homeless shelter and Shine Literacy. I stand for an egalitarian society where each person is given opportunities to reach their full potential and to lead dignified lives.

What do I hope to achieve as a BR champion: I hope to become a conduit for knowledge and support to women and girls and to treat people with respect and care. I would use the platform to raise awareness for under-represented issues and to make myself and others aware of how we can help each other in practical ways.

What does feminism or woman empowerment mean to me: It means freedom to be whoever and whatever I choose to be. There are still many barriers to achieving this freedom for women of all walks of life and it is our duty to empower others so that we can all experience this freedom.

Favourite song: Iris Googoo Dolls

Dream destination: Cuba

Knowing what I now know, I would tell my 14-year-old self: Don’t worry so much, it all works out eventually. Keep focusing on becoming your best self (spoiler alert – she’s been inside you all along). Be kinder to your parents, they were also 14 once.

The one goal I wish to achieve: Make a meaningful tangible impact on the lives of women and girls.
